The game is much more close to turn-based that it looks and I believe this shows Square Enix kinda acknowledges this. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is one of the most anticipated games of 2020, but some fans have expressed. I believe being able to swing your sword to charge up the ATB is pretty much a way to please the type of players who think turn-based automatically sucks, or those who just want action all the time. Final Fantasy 7 Remake announced a Classic Mode at Tokyo Game Show 2019, a gameplay feature that will allow player to enable an optional turn-based battle mode that will more closely resemble the experience that characterized the original game. The difficulty is automatically set to Easy (remember: selecting Easy mode is just Easier enemy difficulty within Normal Mode).
